Thomas Flyer Sugishita (Tommy) was born and raised in a small seaside town in California, where temperatures are oftentimes 60’ – 70’ year-round.Tommy competed as a multi-sport athlete all through his childhood and into high school, focusing on track & field and basketball in his later high school years.By the time Tommy’s high school track & field career was complete, he achieved All-County, All-League, All-Southern Section, All-CIF, and state recognition in the discus throw.
Tommy then attended MoorparkJunior College, where he earned a physical education degree and competed on the school’s track & field team.Tommy was a 2003 All-State discus thrower and a member of the 2003 CaliforniaStateChampionJunior College team.In 2004, Tommy suffered a severe back injury that had doctors questioning whether he should ever throw again. However, after rehabilitating for a year, Tommy came back and finished 2nd in both the discus and hammer throw at the 2005 California Junior College State Meet Championships (where 114 junior colleges compete each year), earning two All-State honors, and was recognized as an All-American junior college athlete.
Tommy then earned a scholarship to Coastal Carolina Universityto throw the hammer and discus on the track & field team.While receiving an Interdisciplinary Studies degree, with an emphasis in Recreation & Sport Management and competing in track & field, Tommy earned two trips to the NCAA Regional Qualifying meet for discus in 2006, and hammer in 2007.He also earned three All-Conference performances, including a 2006 individual championship in the discus, and was a member of the 2006 Big South Track & Field Conference Championship team.
Tommy has transitioned his competitive drive in track & field into helping clients be competitive in various business arenas.His sense of humor and genuine personality help Tommy to be creative in the marketing verbiage he puts together for clients.Tommy brings unique writing skills, ample web knowledge (Professional Internet Marketer, PIM), a hard work ethic and an innate ability to bring out the best in others through honesty, hard work, and teamwork.
