Jonea Gene was nominated for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce's Volunteer of the Year Award at the Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony held on October 18, 2006 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.  Although the award went to Kermit "K2" Gibson, who was extremely deserving of the award, Jonea Gene was just honored to be nominated for the award.  The Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a member of the Myrtle Beach Chamber who donates their time graciously to the efforts of the chamber.
